James Schlechter
Originally from the Northwest, I have also lived in Nevada, Utah, Hawaii and Taiwan. As with many artists, my environment and life experiences provide me with the visuals I interpret in my work. Probably my living in Hawaii has influenced my artwork the most. I really enjoyed my time there; the friends I met, the spirituality of the islands, and the pure clean sunlight which all have continued to enrich my soul and settle my somewhat constant want for fulfillment.
I now reside in a studio in the historic Tribeca area of New York City where I work and play. My love/hate relationship with the city and people drive me to travel, search for more layers of meaning that there is to discover in the world and within myself. I have traveled to most every continent... My life's lesson is yet to be realized.
